    Re: P.V. possible 1-3 start?

    Aug. 29 @ Lee High
    Sept. 4 Lebanon
    Sept. 11 Richlands
    Sept. 18 @ Harlan County
    Sept. 25 JI Burton
    Oct. 2 @ Clintwood
    Oct. 9 OPEN
    Oct. 16 @ JJ Kelly
    Oct. 23 Gate City
    Oct. 30 @ Pound
    Nov. 6 Appalachia

Going 3-7 or 2-8 is very possible. I guess 7-3 is possible as well.

Pinkston didn't play and the offense only generated 68 yards for the game. I think Harlan had 2 backs over 100 yards and their qb was 5-6 for about 100 yards.

    Its already 1-3 isn't it?
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

    Yeah, PV is 1-3

but I feel if they can beat JIB,JJK,Pound, and Appy, they would make the playoffs.
I think playing such a murderer's row will help, maybe steal one from GC/CW.

I liked Robbins' quote in the paper, "They have a nice ball club, not a great one, but a good one." Classic Robbins.

    Here's my personal favorite:
"Are we a 10-0 team? I'm not going to tell you that, but I'm going to tell you that we could be."

So his (according to him) potentially 10-0 team being blasted 35-0 by an opposing team means that that team is good, not great.

    Makes sense.

Now don't you know if a Phil coached team is 4-0 now instead of 1-3 its great coaching, if they are 1-3 its players not doing worth a crap. Thats always been my problem with Phil. He is a legend, but he's the star of Varsity Blues. Its about him, seldom about the players. PV could turn around and end up 7-3 for all I know, but if they do, it's going to be due to the players, not due to him.

    Re: P.V. possible 1-3 start?

Could this team be 10 and 0 don't know that but if the had scheduled some of the pancakes some of these other teams do they would be 4and 0 right now. because Phil tries to play the best teams he can get to prepair for district play he is now 1 and 3 lets see how the boys respond now because the important season begins Friday. With what they have been through the last three weeks the season won't get much tougher, they need to get healthy and prepair for one game at a time. as that will be the most important game of the year for them now the next one. Take care of business and the playoffs are possible, if not 1 and 9 could be the end result if they dwell on the past.

I hate it for the kids, but if Phil never wins another game, then I'm happy. Most dispicable human ever.

    Re: P.V. possible 1-3 start?

There are pros and cons to a tough schedule like PV has.....

    Pros:

Prepares you better for offseason and competition for later down the road

    Cons:

Starting 1-3 instead of 4-0 or 3-1 can really get in the heads of high school kids and shatter their confidence.
Injuries can tend to pile up more when playing in tougher games but not always
With the losses you can schedule your way right out of the playoffs and all that preparation for tougher competition later down the road means jack squat.

I am sure there are more but IMO the cons definitely outweight the pros for scheduling like that. I think there should be a happy medium
